THE BEST BIT!

If you have never done this before, I’ll try to put into words just how brilliant it has been for us in the past.

We have been lucky. I have lost count of the number of times we have visited the winners enclosure, drank champagne in the room reserved for winners, whilst we watch a re-run of our race (several times if you wish!), and I want to add to that number….both flat and NH codes.

In January 2013 we sat top 10 in the owners table after Rosie’s two wins in a week for us, ahead of the likes of Godolphin!

ROSIE’S LADY

The joy we have had with our own horse, ROSIE’S LADY, is the stuff of legend.

She first ran on New years Day 2013 in our colours….little race at Wolverhampton but to the members there, it could have been Royal Ascot. She was known as our “charity horse”….if you visit the Racing Post archive you will see the name of the owner as being PostracingLtd – The Charity Horse and every penny of prize money won went to the charities we support.

She scooted in by just under three lengths and the place erupted. a week later we went back there and upped in trip by four furlongs, she hosed up by five lengths.

In the space of 35 days she ran five times for us, winning two, placing in two.

She was then loaned out to The Bob Champion Cancer Trust for his Legends race at Aintree on Grand National day. She finished a galant third that day, ridden by Gold Cup winning jockey/trainer Jim Culloty. Post Racing members stood in the same place as that which the connections of the third placed horse in the Grand National later that day, would stand.

She was then loaned out to a member of the Irish Guarda who, in order to compete in the Cheltenham Festival Charity race on St Patricks Day, had to raise a certain amount of money for the Heart Foundation.

Bob then had her back in another Charity race at Chepstow, where she again helped his charitable foundation raise £00000’s.

GRANDORIO

The dream of one of our members had always been to stand in the parade ring there, as an owner. We had joined forces with Hambleton Racing and purchased shares in three of their horses, one of which was GRANDORIO.

He was good….very decent….and we were running in the Class 2 Handicap. Opened 7/1 on course and “we” smashed it in to 4/1.

Eric was beside himself being in that parade ring. His wife was walking around the outside, taking pictures of us all, and when the time came for us to leave the parade ring and get a good viewing point for the race, we virtually had to drag Eric out of there!

You can still view this race via the Racing Post website….do, he was brilliant this day. Danny Tudhope held him up in last, gave him a shake of the reigns about six furlongs from home, moved him up four out, inside the three he hit the front and bolted in by eight lengths.

We were like adult children as we first greeted our winner….then went to get the money off the bookmakers.

HIDDON COIN

Our most prolific winner.

Five runs on all weather surfaces produced four winning runs and one placed effort.

Seven runs on turf saw us in the winners enclosure once, with another third placed producing prize money.

In April of 2013 we flew high, running in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury and we were beaten 18 lengths by OLYMPIC GLORY, who had won the Group 2 Superlative Stakes, Vintage Stakes and the Grand Criterium at Longchamp as a juvenile, and went on to win the Group 1 QE11 Stakes on Champions day at Ascot in the same year.

Sold to race abroad, HIDDON COIN underwent a name change, HEARILY WINS, and raced at Sha Tin.
